MACSTAR is a Centrex feature that gives business customers more timely
turnaround on the software changes needed to keep office communications in sync as
personnel and applications continue to grow and change. MACSTAR also offers improved
access, functionality, and an expanded interface to integrated systems.
Easy Reconfigurations
MACSTAR permits customers to make software changes to their Centrex systems
directly from their own location and without having to initiate a service order
through the telephone company. MACSTAR gives you the ability to reconfigure your telephone
lines and features, receive user reports, perform queries and tallies on the MACSTAR
database, and complete individual line and bulk change requests. Changes can be programmed
to be released to the central office in near real-time, overnight, or at future times.
Multi-Locatoin Access
If you are managing multiple Centrex locations, MACSTAR streamlines your work. With a
single log-on, you can access up to 80 databases at speeds ranging from 300 bps to
19.2 Kbps for optimum control of Centrex service at locations throughout your
enterprise.
With MACSTAR, Centrex customers directly access the electronic switching
system (ESS) central office translation database from a dial-up terminal on their
premises. The MACSTAR platform supports analog, digital, and ISDN Centrex service from all
central office types throughout Bell Atlantic. The MACSTAR platform is accessed via a
secure server using token authentication cards. This provides an added layer of security
for proprietary databases.
