COMMERCIAL JOB TITLE: WAN ENGINEER (SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS ENGINEER) - CODE 103
Plans installations, transitions, and cutovers of network components and capabilities. Coordinate requirements with users and suppliers. Design, test, install, implement and maintain computer networks, using and implementing network standards. Operates computer networks, identifies and solves problems. Performs restart / recovery, additions, deletions, and modifications of terminals, hosts, etc., optimization of network costs and performance and implementing accounting and charge back systems. Analyzes network characteristics (e.g., traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput) and recommends procurement, removals, and modifications to network components. Design and optimize network topologies and site configurations. Has expertise in one or more of the following:
Window NT network products and integration
Novell network products and integration
TCP/IP
SNMP
Network management
Routers, CSU's, High Speed Modems
Has 5 - 10 years experience and may serve as Technical Lead in projects with extensive use of communications an WAN products. Has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or other related scientific or technical discipline.
